Our Story & Philosophy

“We believe that conscious and educated choices in the food we buy and eat will benefit everybody from consumers to local producers, and the community as a whole.”

The idea behind Farmer Robert’s store was born out of the belief that we should care more about what we eat: we should know where our food is grown, how it is grown, and what goes into the final product.

At Farmer Robert’s, we believe that conscious and educated choices in the food we buy and eat will benefit everybody from consumers to local producers, and the community as a whole.

In the Yukon, the only channel to sell local food products—in particular meat, egg and dairy—used to be through farm-gate sales, or seasonal farmers’ markets.

Farmer Robert’s aim is to provide an outlet for local farmers who want to move from farm gates sales to year-round retail sales.

We also believe that food that can’t be sourced or grown locally need to be selected to certain standards such as ‘organic,’ ‘non-GMO’, and with consideration for transportation distances and ethical production.
